Firewatch Enhanced 1.2.2: a fix for the Free Roam day/night cycle

Version 1.2.2 fixes a day/night cycle problem when loading long-running Free Roam saves. The Windows download includes BepInEx 5.

Firewatch Enhanced 1.2.2 is now available on Saving Old Games. This version fixes a problem with the day/night cycle in Free Roam that can affect saves made after a long session.

What changed in 1.2.2?

After the day/night cycle loops back to the beginning, a save could store an invalid cycle step. Loading that save could leave the cycle stuck. Version 1.2.2 handles that invalid state so the cycle can continue.

If your save already has broken cave lighting

Install the patch, enter the cave again and go through the gate until you drop onto the first stone. You can then head back out. Leaving the cave restores the day/night cycle, and the next save should load correctly.

Download and installation

The download on this site is for the 64-bit Windows GOG version of Firewatch. BepInEx 5 is included, so there is no separate mod loader to install.

Extract the 7z archive with 7-Zip into the game folder, next to Firewatch.exe. Keep the folder structure from the archive.
