Corsairs Community Patch 1.0.0 is available

Corsairs Community Patch 1.0.0 is ready to download. Work began with a crash when starting a new campaign in the GOG edition of Corsairs Gold. The release now brings couple of fixes such as covering display, sound, camera controls, cursors, boarding and interface readability.

More room for the map

The patch expands the game surface to 1056 × 600, showing more of the world instead of simply stretching the original picture. The default output is 1280 × 720 in fullscreen mode. You can zoom out with the mouse wheel on the sea map and during boarding; selection and movement orders follow the current view.

Smoother controls

Camera scrolling, cursor movement and selection outlines are smoother. Camera movement is 25% faster at sea and 75% faster during boarding. Dragging on the minimap also moves the camera more smoothly. Boarding fixes cover the deck, characters, interface and movement-order feedback in the wider view.

Clearer panels and mission results

Building-upgrade and ship-construction/repair panels now use darker brown text for names, labels and values. The defeat-screen artwork reaches the right sidebar, removing the strip of sea that previously remained visible.

The release also includes the campaign-start crash fix, cnc-ddraw integration, restored intro and music playback, music-loop improvements, menu page-turning and cursor fixes, and sea-cursor color corrections.

Copy-and-paste installation

Close the game and make a backup copy of the entire game folder. Extract the ZIP, open corsairs-community-patch-1.0.0-direct-exe and copy all files and folders inside it into the installed GOG game folder. Replace matching files and merge the data folder. Start the game through corsairs.exe or your existing shortcut.

To undo the patch, return to the untouched folder backup and preserve any newer saves first.
